Multigres Deployment Engineer

The role

This engineer sits on the infrastructure side of Supabase's Multigres project, a distributed Postgres offering. The work centers on building and upkeep of a Go-based Kubernetes operator that manages database clusters, plus the cloud layer beneath it. The role works closely with database, reliability, and product engineers.

What you would do

• Develop and maintain a Go Kubernetes operator that runs distributed Postgres clusters
• Design deployment patterns for managed Kubernetes services on major clouds
• Handle storage volumes, CSI integrations, and cross-cloud connectivity
• Build internal automation for provisioning, scaling, and running clusters
• Add monitoring, alerting, and diagnostic hooks into the deployment layer
• Partner with database, SRE, and product teams to smooth out deployments

What they asked for

• Strong systems programming background
• Working fluency in Go and experience shipping production operators or controllers
• Hands-on familiarity with Kubernetes internals, custom resources, and managed clusters
• Understanding of database deployment, backups, replication, and availability
• Exposure to consensus algorithms and designing for failure
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and cloud provider APIs
• Track record of building reliable, observable systems

Nice to have

• Experience with CSI storage drivers and orchestration in Kubernetes
• Familiarity with service mesh or cross-cloud networking tools
• Prior work with sharded query systems such as Vitess
• Contributions to open-source infrastructure projects
