Replit

Product Engineer, New Products

Hands-on frontend-leaning engineer who takes early product concepts to launch, building AI-driven visual creation tools inside Replit's agentic platform.

The role

This is a product-minded engineering role on a small, autonomous team that incubates new product categories at Replit. The engineer owns features end to end, from early concept through launch and iteration, while collaborating closely with product, design, and AI engineers. The work centers on making AI-generated presentations, dashboards, and similar artifacts editable and shareable.

What you would do

  • Drive user-facing products from first idea through design, build, release, and ongoing refinement
  • Design and construct interfaces for generating, changing, laying out, and co-editing AI-produced decks, data apps, and visual outputs
  • Raise the bar on frontend quality, covering interaction design, visual detail, accessibility, speed, and handling of failures
  • Work directly with end users and cross-functional partners to learn real workflows and convert feedback into improvements
  • Build shared editing, charting, and collaboration building blocks that future products can reuse
  • Set up feedback loops and evaluation methods to raise the visual quality of agent-generated artifacts

What they asked for

  • At least four years of professional software engineering with a record of shipping polished, user-facing software
  • Working knowledge of the complete agent-driven development workflow, including how coding agents write, test, and review code
  • Hands-on depth in TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS, plus solid understanding of browser performance and responsive, accessible design
  • Good product sense and visual taste, with the ability to weigh usability against speed, correctness, and maintainability
  • Able to work across the stack with Node.js, APIs, Postgres, and data modeling, and to debug issues in production

Nice to have

  • Experience building visual editors, presentation tools, creative software, data applications, or collaboration products
  • Familiarity with canvas or graphics rendering, rich text, direct manipulation, or real-time collaboration
  • Experience designing interfaces for AI generation, streaming output, and long-running agent tasks
  • Prior work as an early engineer at a startup or a notable independent project
