Engineering Manager, Knowledge Graph Platform

Leads a team building Reddit's shared knowledge graph platform, setting technical direction, data contracts, and reliability standards across ads and consumer products.

The role

This role manages engineers who build the systems that map entities, relationships, and context across Reddit's content. The platform underpins ads marketplace models and user-facing features, so the manager sets its roadmap and works across product, engineering, and linguistics partners. The position is remote within the US and Canada with a preference for Eastern Time.

What you would do

  • Coach and grow a team of engineers while setting clear goals and technical ownership
  • Define the roadmap for a scalable graph platform covering APIs, reliability, and developer experience
  • Apply current LLM and agent-based methods to build and extend the graph
  • Establish service-level objectives, data quality metrics, governance, and safe release practices
  • Align engineering, linguistics, and domain teams on ontology and data quality ownership
  • Ensure the graph keeps the coverage and freshness that priority use cases require
  • Drive new graph-backed capabilities for shopping, search, ads, and feed models
  • Stay involved in architecture decisions and contribute hands-on where most useful

What they asked for

  • 8+ years of total software engineering experience
  • 2+ years managing and developing engineering teams
  • Experience building AI/ML or data-intensive platforms serving multiple internal customers
  • Ability to turn an internal system into a product-like platform with contracts and self-service adoption
  • Experience defining data contracts covering quality, lineage, or governance
  • Strong judgment across distributed systems, backend services, APIs, and reliability
  • Comfortable making tradeoffs under ambiguity, including without a dedicated product manager
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have

  • Experience with knowledge graphs, ontologies, entity resolution, search, or contextual grounding
  • Master's or advanced degree in a related technical or linguistics field
