Staff Software Engineer - AI Applications

The role

This role sits on a founding AI applications group at a financial data network that connects consumer apps to bank accounts. The engineer will help scale existing AI experiments, including a customer support agent, while building integration patterns for large AI providers and agent-based commerce.

What you would do

• Build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs plus polished frontend applications
• Partner with AI, software, and ML engineers to ship generative AI features
• Work with product and business teams to find where AI can deliver the most impact
• Run fast, lean experiments to test what emerging AI capabilities can unlock
• Weigh creative ideas against technical feasibility, product fit, and business value

What they asked for

• Experience building backend services within microservice or service-oriented architectures
• Hands-on record shipping LLM-based products and iterating on real user feedback
• Familiarity with techniques such as prompt design, tuning, retrieval-augmented generation, and embeddings
• Experience with agent frameworks and evaluating open-ended model outputs
• Solid debugging and monitoring skills for production systems
• Able to research user needs directly and act as a self-driven product thinker

Nice to have
