Engineering Manager - Personal Finance

The role

This role leads an engineering team within Plaid that builds the financial data products powering consumer personal finance applications. The team covers transactions, investments, and liabilities, working on both foundational upgrades and new tools that help users track spending, recurring charges, and net worth. The manager works alongside Product and customers to set direction and connect Plaid's network to AI-driven financial experiences.

What you would do

• Manage seven engineers across experience levels, developing them through expectations, coaching, and feedback
• Co-define long-term team strategy with Product, weighing new features against reliability, data quality, and scalability
• Stay involved in technical design and execution to guide sound decisions across the product line
• Take ambiguous customer problems through to launch, adoption, and continued refinement
• Engage directly with customers and go-to-market teams to scope solutions, communicate trade-offs, and set achievable commitments
• Cultivate a team that ships reliably and owns both customer results and system health

What they asked for

• At least eight years of software engineering work, including a stint as a Staff-level engineer before moving into management
• At least one year of experience managing engineers
• Hands-on background designing and running dependable backend services and APIs at scale
• Proven record of building and growing strong engineering groups, as an individual contributor or manager
• Solid product sense for shaping roadmaps and weighing feature work against foundational investment
