Forward Deployed Engineer, GTM, AMER

Customer-facing engineer who builds and ships production integrations, agents, and migrations for large enterprise accounts on Notion's Services team.

The role

This role sits on Notion's Services team and focuses on the most intricate enterprise engagements. The engineer works alongside customers' technical and operational teams to design and deliver tailored solutions that embed Notion into their existing systems.

  • Write and maintain custom code plus production-grade agents and AI workflows
  • Construct data pipelines and handle scale, access control, and governance concerns
  • Plan and carry out large content and data migrations, from modeling through post-launch tuning
  • Advise customers on architecture choices and spot chances to extend their Notion usage
  • Track down root causes of problems spanning APIs, permissions, authentication, and client configurations
  • Feed field lessons back to Product, CX, and Engineering to influence the roadmap and tooling
  • Create reusable assets such as migration tools, integration templates, and delivery standards

What they asked for

  • At least five years in a client-facing forward deployed engineering or comparable hands-on technical position
  • Working fluency in a programming language such as Python, JavaScript, Java, or SQL, with production-quality coding habits
  • Practical experience building API-based integrations and moving data between systems
  • Able to scope technical work, estimate effort, and convert vague asks into concrete plans
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts for isolating issues across code, integrations, and environment settings
  • Clear written and spoken communication suited to both engineers and business leaders

Nice to have

  • Background in professional services, ideally at a startup or fast-growing company
  • Hands-on work deploying autonomous AI agents in complex coding or operational workflows
  • Experience building AI-driven flows with MCP, LLM apps, prompt design, retrieval systems, or orchestration tools
  • History of creating discovery frameworks or internal tooling from scratch
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines, schema mapping, and migration validation scripts
  • Track record of partnering with product and engineering to shape roadmaps or architecture
  • Involvement in pre-sales work such as feasibility checks, migration sizing, or prototype scripts
  • Proven record of delivering large enterprise implementations
