Senior Infrastructure Software Engineer

The role

This role sits within the infrastructure engineering group, which underpins the company's flagship products. The engineer helps design and build backend systems that handle enormous file counts, data volumes, and connection loads, while partnering with teams across the organization.

What you would do

• Design backend systems that track metadata across very large file populations and petabyte-scale storage
• Extend the company's platform as a central connective layer linking many apps, devices, and external services
• Improve the performance and observability of the internal analytics stack used to mine large datasets
• Partner with other teams to ship reliability, performance, and security upgrades across the infrastructure
• Spot opportunities for improvement in existing projects and push changes that affect wider product lines
• Work through unclear problem spaces and steer projects toward delivery
• Take part in occasional on-call rotations to resolve incidents and production issues

What they asked for

• Degree in computer science or a closely related quantitative discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience
• At least nine years of professional software engineering work
• History of building and running large concurrent backend services spread across regions
• Fluency writing and troubleshooting code in several mainstream backend languages
• Deep familiarity with OS kernels, file storage, databases, networking, or compiler internals is a plus
• Comfort operating with ambiguity and solving open-ended problems
• Track record of seeing long-running initiatives through to finish
• Capacity to define medium- and long-range plans for projects with business impact
