The role
This role sits within Dropbox's analytics data engineering group and involves creating a greenfield data platform rather than maintaining legacy systems. The engineer will shape data assets, pipeline design, and long-term platform architecture while partnering with business units, engineers, product managers, and data scientists. The position is remote within select Canadian locations.
What you would do
- Define core company data assets and data models, and build Spark and SparkSQL jobs that populate them
- Design data integrations and quality frameworks, and assess open source or vendor options for data lineage
- Set long-term data platform architecture with business and engineering partners, prioritizing efficiency and reliability
- Own data architecture for several large initiatives, weighing design and operating cost tradeoffs
- Translate data needs from engineers, PMs, and data scientists into clear, useful insight representations
- Build and ship layered data models and visualizations serving multiple products or domains
- Improve pipelines, dashboards, and frameworks to speed up data development work
- Participate in on-call rotations for services where the team runs them
