AI Engineer - FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer)

The role

This role sits inside a customer-facing AI group that delivers paid professional services projects. The engineer works directly with clients to turn advanced AI concepts into live applications, while partnering with product, engineering, and developer relations teams and supporting internal subject-matter specialists.

What you would do

• Design and ship novel generative AI solutions that draw on the newest research from Databricks.
• Take ownership of moving consumer-facing and internal GenAI apps into live production.
• Act as a go-to technical counselor for customers spanning many industries.
• Speak at major industry events, including the flagship Data + AI conference, to build reputation internally and externally.
• Partner with product and engineering colleagues to steer what gets prioritized and map out the roadmap.

What they asked for

• Seven or more years building generative AI systems such as retrieval-augmented generation, multi-agent setups, natural-language-to-SQL, and model tuning.
• Track record shipping GenAI apps to production, including assessment and performance tuning.
• Substantial hands-on background in data science work using standard ML libraries like pandas, scikit-learn, and PyTorch.
• Proven ability to stand up machine learning systems in the cloud on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, engineering, statistics, or operations research, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Skill at explaining technical ideas to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Enthusiasm for teamwork, continuous learning, and creating business impact through AI.
• Ability to travel roughly every 4-8 weeks to meet customers when needed.
• Native Korean and professional English in written and spoken form.

Nice to have

• Prior work with the Databricks platform and Apache Spark on massive distributed data sets.
