The role
This role sits on the infrastructure team and is responsible for the base networking and cloud layer that every internal service depends on. The engineer will help scale Cursor into new regions while keeping spend efficient and deployments consistent across teams.
What you would do
- Run production Kubernetes clusters with service mesh, autoscaling, and ingress that product teams can deploy to safely
- Design a repeatable approach for replicating services across multiple cloud regions and providers
- Build networking and security controls at the edge to block abuse, enforce request limits, and route traffic efficiently
- Create cost attribution tooling, find wasteful spend, and balance cloud expenses against reliability
- Define one opinionated container orchestration approach so every team gets dependable deployments by default
What they asked for
- Substantial hands-on experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms, including VPC networking, EKS or Kubernetes, and IAM
- Has built and operated production Kubernetes environments at scale, covering service mesh, autoscaling, and multi-region setups
- Working knowledge of edge networking, CDN and WAF designs, and traffic management at the infrastructure layer
- Commitment to infrastructure-as-code and reproducible environments that other teams can self-serve
- Solid software engineering fundamentals and a drive to build platforms that speed up other engineers
Nice to have
- Experience optimizing cost at scale
- Experience migrating or unifying infrastructure across systems
