Software Engineer, Client Infrastructure

Engineer building build, distribution, and performance systems for the cross-platform desktop client of an AI coding tool used by millions of developers.

The role

This role sits on the Client Infrastructure group, which owns the desktop application's foundations across macOS, Windows, and Linux. The engineer shapes shared libraries, release pipelines, and telemetry that other product teams depend on. The work is positioned as central to the company's growth in a fast-expanding developer tool.

What you would do

  • Build shared abstractions, build tooling, and observability foundations for the desktop client
  • Track down and remove memory leaks, crashes, and uneven frame timing
  • Create instrumentation for profiling, structured logs, and performance measurement
  • Work with product teams to speed up release cadence and ship updates frequently
  • Assess whether Electron or native implementations better suit critical code paths
  • Develop internal tools so engineers can release to the client platform safely

What they asked for

  • Hands-on experience with build systems, performance tuning, app distribution, or observability
  • Prior work on high-performance desktop software, Electron-based or native
  • Strong focus on performance, stability, and developer experience
  • Comfort with a fast-moving, collaborative, product-driven setting
  • Interest in pushing what AI-driven developer tools can do
