The role
This role sits within a security organization being built from scratch at a fast-growing B2B AI company. The engineer is expected to be a strong software developer first, with depth in either cloud or application security and working familiarity with the other. Much of the time goes to hands-on building rather than advisory work.
What you would do
- Create security primitives, tooling, and automation that grow alongside the product and engineering teams
- Set the direction for AI-assisted discovery of vulnerabilities, automated code review, threat detection, and fixes
- Partner with infrastructure and product engineers so the safest approach is also the easiest
- Carry projects from design through rollout and measurement
- Harden cloud environments covering identity, network policy, containers, secrets, and misconfiguration checks
- Enforce least-privilege access for services and people, using infrastructure-as-code and cloud posture tools
- Lead secure design guidance and code-level reviews, and help engineers ship remediations
- Run vulnerability discovery programs including static and dynamic analysis, dependency scanning, pen tests, and bounties
What they asked for
- Solid software engineering fundamentals with a history of shipping production systems
- Deep experience in cloud security or application security, plus the ability to work in the adjacent area
- Turns risk into concrete engineering deliverables rather than only advice
- Comfortable working through ambiguity and establishing standards from the ground up
- Interest in applying modern automation and AI to security operations without sacrificing engineering rigor
