Clay

Product Designer, Growth

Senior-to-staff designer leading a growth pod at a fast-growing B2B AI company, shipping experiments while building reusable patterns for company-wide testing.

The role

This role sits inside a newly formed growth pod at Clay, focused on acquisition, activation, and retention. The designer leads design for that pod and also advises other product groups on running their own growth tests.

What you would do

  • Deliver experiments for the acquisition, activation, and retention stages, ranging from small split tests to bigger feature investments
  • Pull together funnel metrics, experiment outcomes, and user research to find the strongest growth opportunities and argue for investing in them
  • Work with product, engineering, and leadership to gain support for both quick wins and longer-term design systems work
  • Create flexible, reusable components such as onboarding carousels, tooltips, empty states, and upgrade prompts so tests don't need custom design
  • Act as a growth advisor to other teams, supplying frameworks and patterns so they can run their own experiments independently

What they asked for

  • Hands-on experience designing and shipping growth experiments in a growth or product-led setting
  • Comfort reading both quantitative data and qualitative research, while treating data as one input to judgment
  • Ability to influence without formal authority and to coach others on design thinking
  • Instinct for building systems and patterns that make future work faster and more consistent
  • Strong problem framing, ability to weigh design alternatives, and clear communication of tradeoffs
  • Meticulous visual craft and strong collaboration across synchronous and asynchronous settings
  • 8 to 12+ years of experience, including staff-level work that involves owning scope, setting direction, and mentoring
