The role
This role sits within Asana's Command initiative, where new go-to-market motions and capabilities are being incubated. The engineer works alongside customer product-development teams, configuring systems and designing workflows, while translating one-off fixes into reusable product features. The position is based in San Francisco or New York City on an office-centric hybrid schedule.
What you would do
- Partner with engineering leadership, platform groups, admins, and builders to link Command with tools teams already rely on
- Lay the technical and operational groundwork that drives adoption and improves how teams plan, build, release, and learn
- Work across cloud infrastructure, integrations, workflow logic, automation, enablement, and coaching engineers
- Set up secure access inside customer environments across source control, build pipelines, issue trackers, and identity providers
- Help design release processes and give leaders the context their agents and staff need for sound decisions
- Write production-grade code when required and convert bespoke customer work into reusable capabilities
- Leave each customer with a sturdier internal process for software delivery, not just a functioning install
What they asked for
- Six or more years in software engineering or a comparable customer-facing technical role such as solutions or implementation engineering
- Solid coding ability and systems design skills, able to take an idea from sketch to shipped code
- Working knowledge of how product and engineering organizations plan, build, ship, and troubleshoot software
- Hands-on experience with APIs, event-driven flows, data modeling, permissions, automation, or agent-driven workflows
- Good judgment on when to tailor a solution, when to simplify it, and when to advocate for productizing it
- Able to operate independently with customers and internal partners in ambiguous, fast-changing settings
- Clear written and spoken communication for both technical and non-technical listeners
- Curiosity about AI tooling and willingness to adopt it to boost productivity and decision quality
